Committees & Theme
Scientists have discovered an Einstein-Rosen bridge at 0.3 light-hour distance from earth. For an unknown reason, this Einstein-Rosen bridge seems stable enough to potentially allow for a traversable wormhole, enabling future time travel! The potential impact is extraordinary, both in terms of opportunities and risks. However, international technological collaboration is needed to make use of this spacetime bridge in the foreseeable future.
It is up to the OckMUN delegates to find consensus on key issues relating to the above theme. Simulating the work of real UN diplomats, delegates will have to use both their disciplinary knowledge as well as skills such as negotiating, debating, public speaking, and policy writing to work on crafting resolutions in one of the five committees bescribed below. Delegates will be exposed to and experience managing risks, diverse perspectives, and political realities involved with international collaboration on technology for time-travel.
PRELIMINARY COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS
Note that the final Agendas and Programmes of Work still need to be set by the chairs and will follow at a later point.
