How to MUN?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an exciting simulation of the United Nations where students role-play as delegates from different countries to debate global issues, negotiate policies, and work collaboratively to find agreements.
Participating in a MUN will help you develop public speaking, negotiation, consensus building, and leadership skills. This page will be updated with a guide to help you get started and excel at OckMUN!
OckMUN uses UN4MUN inspired Rules of Procedures (RoP) designed to mirror the workings of the UN more accurately than traditional simulations which follow Parliamentary RoP. As such, our Rules of Procedures might significantly differ from other MUNs you might have previously attended. Therefore, it is imperative that all delegates closely study our Rules of Procedures prior to the start of OckMUN.
Delegates
As participant, called 'delegate', you will be representing a country in one of the five committees. You will work together with other delegates in your committee to make agreements 'resolutions' on the issues on the agenda.
Chairs
Some participants take on a special role: committee chair. Every committee will be moderated by a chair and co-chair who will be actively involved in trying to build consensus in the committee. Prior to the MUN, chairs will draft the agenda and prepare an
