About
OckMUN is hosted by H.V. Ockham — the non-profit Honours Study Association for students of the University of Twente.
The Secretariat consists of a team of student and alumni volunteers directed by the Lustrum Committee of H.V. Ockham. Besides their shared background as Honours student, they share a strong determination to inspire students to think more deeply about the societal impact of new technologies.
Constituted in 2009, H.V. Ockham is the oldest Honours association in the Netherlands with over 650 members. As the study association of the extracurricular Honours Programme from the University of Twente, we are a community of highly motivated students seeking to expand their intellectual exploration and development beyond their regular study programmes. More information can be found on hvockham.nl
In 2017, H.V. Ockham founded the Dutch Honours Community (DHC), a national collective of Dutch Honours associations. Through DHC, top students from throughout the Netherlands will be able to participate in the MUN.
The University of Twente (UT) presides over the European Consortium of Innovative Universities and is the most entrepreneurial university of Europe, ranking first in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking on SDG 9. While mostly being a technical university, the motto is High Tech, Human Touch; this motto is reflected in the Honours Programme tracks and is core to the theme of the MUN. Its extracurricular UT Honours Programme has five bachelor and five master tracks open to top 10% students. Examples of tracks are Change Leaders, Great Negotiators, and Mathematics. For more information, go to utwente.nl/honours
The UT is part of the 4TU.IMPACT collaboration between the four Dutch technical universities, which aims to strengthen their societal impact by increasing valorisation, such as by supporting OckMUN.
